  10. first i would like to thank Robert Owen Raine...you have been a great 
  11. help with your very thorough startup info, and ways to solve things...

  13. but here we go...

  15. i have now made it beyond the grey screens, and have hit a yello, and 
  16. sometimes a red one....sometimes, like right now, it will still hang on 
  17. the grey screens, all the while the disk drive light just stays on...

  19. when i try a warm boot, the caps lock key flashes once, and nothing that 
  20. i can tell happens with the computer....
  21.  
  22. also, when booting, i hear the boot drive doing something, but the hard 
  23. disk light on the front panel does not light up...

  25. sometimes, the power led flashes alot...not 9 short 1 long...but just 
  26. alot of shorts...and then the screen quickly jumps to black....

  28. sometimes, and this is the most common...the screen stays black...i can 
  29. tell that it does something, for it refreshes once...but it stays black...

  31. what my question is...does anyone out there have the foggiest idea what 
  32. is wrong...is it the roms????   should a hold a funeral??  or should i 
  33. keep trying cpr??

  35. I have no ideas.....i will try to get the 3.1 upgrade with roms and see 
  36. if it helps any...thats all...

  38. now here is another thing...i think i know what set this off...i have 
  39. parnet installed, and while i was gone, my brother attached the printer 
  40. to the parnets aquired parrallel port....i know that the parnet 
  41. completely reconfigures everything about the par port...so could this 
  42. have nuked my computer????

  44. its even more suspicous that this first showed up when they tried to 
  45. print something...this was the first time the computer hanged, and never 
  46. booted again...i.e there is a direct connection betweeen my boot probs, 
  47. and the printer stuff....
